ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is set to introduce its first-ever Glass Train, offering a scenic travel experience from Islamabad to Murree. The project aims to boost tourism by providing breathtaking views of Margalla Hills, Bhara Kahu, Bhurban, and Galiyat through panoramic glass windows.
Project Overview & Feasibility
Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan recently visited Margalla Railway Station to review the project’s feasibility. The 55-kilometer railway track will include advanced safety mechanisms, ensuring smooth travel through steep terrains.
The National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) will complete the feasibility study by April 30, after which the project will move toward international tendering under a public-private partnership.
Boost to Tourism & Regional Growth
Inspired by international scenic train routes, the Murree Glass Train is expected to attract local and international tourists, boosting the economy and enhancing connectivity in the Islamabad-Murree corridor.
Minister Bilal Khan emphasized that the train will promote tourism and improve travel facilities for locals. Once operational, it will become a flagship tourism initiative, showcasing Pakistan’s natural beauty like never before.
